Arriving on a Thursday afternoon, we had no problem getting a site. Here we are on #56, in the Marina View loop. Of the 104 sites, only 59 are reservable, leaving ample opportunity for transients to get a site. It's a popular weekend destination, though, so getting a site late Friday or Saturday could be a proble. Date of visit: Mar 2006

Actually we had chosen #91 in the Pine Island loop first, but after getting settled, we discovered that these sites were prime for families, since they are near the beach and large playground. And the sites are more crowded in this area. We were able to move to a quieter section. |

Many of
the sites are along the water's edge. Most are back-ins, although
there are a few pull-throughs. |

Here are
some of the low-numbered sites in the Old Mill Road loop. Beware of
the steep transition from the driveway to the pad at some sites -
your rig's rear-end may drag. |

Sites 95-104
are for tents only. Thye are at the end of the Pine Island loop. |

Each of
the three loops has a small but clean bathhouse, with hot showers
and laundry facilities. |

Cotton
Hill is a popular spot for fishermen. There is a boat launch in the
campground and many folks tie their boats up along the shore in front
of their site. |

Cotton Hill is located on the eastern shore of Walter George Lake, a few miles north of Fort Gaines, GA. There are three campground loops with a total of 104 sites.
