We had plenty of sites to choose from, but the only site available that afforded us an ocean view was 34. Date of visit: Apr 2008 |
The view from right in front of our site. You can make out the mountains on Santa Rosa and Santa Cruz Islands. |
Sites 17-12. |
Sites 4 and 3 are well-shaded by these old live oaks. |
Sites 45-44 offer more sun. |
For pure sun, sites 68-67 can't be beat. |
Site 107 is in my estimation the best site in the park, with its great ocean view. |
Another prime site is 123. |
Site 84 is also high on my list of recommended sites. |
Each of the four camp loops has a bathhouse. This one seems to be the oldest and is pretty basic, but does offer hot showers - 2 minutes for $.25. |

Looking up the coast at sunset from just in front of our site. |

El Capitan State Beach, CA
El Capitan State Beach is located on Hwy 101/1 about 18 miles northwest of Santa Barbara. The campground sits atop a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately, only a few sites offer views of the ocean. A short path will take you from the campground down to the beach.
