We arrived on a Tuesday at noon and had no problem getting a site for one night - site 30.

Most recent visit: Jan 2010

We were assigned site 20 on our Feb 06 visit. Trees were just open enough that I was able to get a satellite signal for our TV.

Sites 5 and 6 have a large live oak hanging over them.
Sites 33-30.
Sites 15 and 16 are pull-throughs.
Sites 18 and 19 are long back-in sites.
Sites 34-36 are also pull-throughs.
Site 21 is a smaller site, as are its neighbors.
Sites 1 and 2 are paved and designated as handicap-accessible.  There is a wooden ramp leading to the bathhouse from this area.  Across the road is site 27, also andicap-accessible.
A very clean, heated (sorta) bathhouse is located in the middle of the campground loop, providing hot showers.
Laundry facilities are under a canopy at one end of the bathhouse.  There is also a large laundry sink.
A short walk from the CG is a pleasant picnic area with several pavilions, a children's playground, a volleyball net, and horseshoe pits.
Adjacent to the picnic area is a boat launch. A 3/4 mile canal connects the park to Lake Griffin. Rental canoes are available.

The 5th largest live-oak tree in the state of Florida is located in the park. It's over 300 years old. The trunk has a diameter of 10 feet, and the tree is over 80 feet tall and has a spread of 131 feet. Pretty awesome !

This picture of Liz and me gives you some idea of the size of this tree.

Lake Griffin State Park is located off Rt 27 just a few miles north of Leesburg.  The campground is fairly close to the highway, so there is some traffic noise. For boaters and fishermen, the park is connected to Lake Griffin by a canal.
