We were assigned site 20 on our Feb 06 visit. Trees were just open enough that I was able to get a satellite signal for our TV. |

A short
walk from the CG is a pleasant picnic area with several pavilions,
a children's playground, a volleyball net, and horseshoe pits. |

Adjacent
to the picnic area is a boat launch. A 3/4 mile canal connects the
park to Lake Griffin. Rental canoes are available. |

The 5th largest live-oak tree in the state of Florida is located in the park. It's over 300 years old. The trunk has a diameter of 10 feet, and the tree is over 80 feet tall and has a spread of 131 feet. Pretty awesome ! |

This picture of Liz and me gives you some idea of the size of this tree. |

Lake Griffin State Park is located off Rt 27 just a few miles north of Leesburg. The campground is fairly close to the highway, so there is some traffic noise. For boaters and fishermen, the park is connected to Lake Griffin by a canal.
