We called about 4 days prior to our intended arrival and were lucky to get a site. Thanks to the inexpensive rates and liberal stay policy, it's a popular spot. We were assigned to site 13 in the older part of the campground, with gravel sites and just W/E. These sites are more wooded, making satellite reception a bit of a challenge. Date of visit: Jan 2009 |

This is the view as you enter the park via the Navy Lodge entrance. This is the newer section of the campground, sites 31-50. Although the road is gravel, each site has a cement pad and full hookups. Some of the pads are not too level, so some leveling of your rig may be necessary. Sites 38-31 are on the left; site 45 to the right. |

This shows most of the older part of the CG. Sites 1-9 are on the left, while 10-18 are on the left. Our site, 13, is partway down on the right. Sites 1-9 are pull-throughs. |

As already noted, setting up a satellite dish can be interesting. I was lucky to be able to run a 75' cable through the trees to an open area behind site 50. You can just make out our Lazy Daze through the trees.. |

If we had our choice of sites here, # 31 would be it - open, but with a couple of large trees for some shade. Site 9 in the older area is also a nice site - it's on the end nearest the river, with a nice view. |

There are 8 dry-camp sites, when all else fails. |

The bathhouse is centrally located and offers modern, clean hot showers and free laundry facilities. |

A great place for observing wildlife, especially of the avian variety, is the Mulberry Cove Nature Trail. |

The best part of the trail is this boardwalk spur ending at a large observation deck on the St Johns River. |

Sitting atop a dead tree right beside the deck was this osprey. We later saw him heading inland with a fish, being pursued by a bald eagle eager to steal dinner from the osprey. |

Another denizen of the cove was this white heron. |

And a little blue heron. |

Near the top of another dead tree was this great blue heron. |

It was soon joined by its mate, who was working on a new nest. |

On the back to the campground we spotted a downy woodpecker. |

Just inside the Main Gate is an interesting display of Naval aircraft associated with NAS JAX over the years. Click here to see pictures and notes on each of the aircraft on display. |

One afternoon we walked over to the marina, where there is quite a collection of craft. |

A short walk from the RV park will take one to the golf course, where you can obviously enjoy a game of golf, or, if like me you have no desire whatsoever to chase that little ball all over the place, you can partake in an excellent meal at Mulligans Restaurant. |
