No problem getting a site this visit - we had a choice of every site but one, which had a reserved sign on it. The campground is down a deep gully, so sunshine is somewhat limited. In an attempt to maximize what remained of the day's sun, we chose site 12.

Date of visit: Apr 2008

All the sites here are rather small. In fact, there is a vehicle length limit of 24' - our 23.5 Lazy Daze just made it. This is site 9, really a tent site.

Site 8 (l)is a bit larger, as is site 3.

Site 2.

Site 13 is fairly large and bright.

Site 16 could probably handle a slightly larger rig - it's really just a pull-off on the side of the road.
There are two bathrooms in the CG - this one just contains 4 toilet and sink rooms.

This newer bathhouse also has hot showers - $.50 for 3 minutes.

An interesting geologic feature at Russian Gulch SP is the Blow Hole. Pounding waves forged an inland tunnel, leaving a hole 100' across and 60' deep. Waves enter from the ocean about 150' away and echo as they break around the caves interior.
The left opening is the tunnel into the Blow Hole.

Russian Gulch SP, CA

Russian Gulch SP is located just north of Mendocino CA on Hwy 1. It offers 30 sites, all without hookups. The CG struck us as slightly rundown - the grass needed mowing and the camp host looked like a permanent resident.
