Grayton Beach SP is located in Santa Rosa Beach on Rt 30-A, about halfway between Panama City and Fort Walton Beach.

We arrived on a Wednesday with, as usual for us, no reservation. There were several sites available - we were assigned #6. Shaded, but also a bit open, it was a pleasant site. There was a nice opening in the tress through which I had no problem getting a satellite TV signal.

    Date of visit: Feb 2007

Even-numbered sites 8-20 offer nice views of Western Lake behind them. I would highly recommend trying to snag one of them. This is a view of #18.

There are 37 sites, each with water and 30A hookups. This is #10.

Site 11 is typical of the rest of the sites. All are very private, level, and a nice mix of shade and sun.

The bathhouse, located in the middle of the camping loop, is an older one, but it has been updated with heating and a/c.

Across Western Lake from the campground (in the background) is a boat launch. There are also several rental canoes available.

The pure white sands of the Gulf Coast are a natural attraction, along with the azure blue waters.

This shows how broad the beach is. The water was a bit chilly in February, though.

    grayton11
Along with the wonderful beach for walking, there are also two hiking trails through the dunes and scrub pines.

    grayton12
Unfortunately, the day we tried the trail, we encountered this submerged portion along Western Lake.
