Deerlick Creek COE, AL
|
Deerlick Creek Park is located a few miles northeast of Tuscaloosa on Holt Lake, just above the dam. It's a mostly-wooded park with 46 sites. Needless to say, this is a popular spot with boaters and fishermen. 205-759-1591 |
![]() We arrived on a Friday afternoon in late March - no problem getting a site. The best water-front sites were taken, but we found a nice view from site 15, high on the bluff above Deerlick Creek. Date of visit: Mar 2012 |
![]() Most sites have decks on the hillside, such as the one on our site (see above). This is the view we had of the creek. |
![]() Sites 16 and 17 are both pull-through sites overlooking the creek. |
![]() Site 20 is typical of the "inland" sites. |
![]() Site 10. |
![]() Halfway down the hill is site 31, which has a bit of a view of the lake. |
![]() Sites 34 and 35 are on the hairpin turn going down the hill. 35, on the left, has a great view of the lake. |
![]() The prime sites closest to the lake are 36-39; shown here is 37. |
![]() Saving the best for last: I considered site 39 the El Primo site. It offers a great view from its deck near the edge of the lake and is quite private. |
![]() Settler's Camp is designated a primitive tent-only loop. The park's definition of primitive is pretty advanced, as each of the 6 sites has electric and water hookups. Here is site 42. Each site is within 50 feet of its parking space. |
![]() There's a typical COE small bathhouse with free hot showers and a small laundry room with 1 washer ($.75) and 1 dryer ($1.00). |
![]() The campground has a small playground for the kids and a lighted basketball court. |
![]() There are four of these fishing docks positioned around the edge of the campground. |
![]() Boating on the lake. |
