Isaac Creek Campground is located at the Claiborne Dam & Lock on the Alabama River, about 20 road miles northwest of Monroeville, AL. A few sites are along the riverbank, while the remainder of the water-front sites are along Isaac Creek.

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon in mid-March - no problem getting a site, despite the fact that some sites were closed due to flooding. We were assigned site 40, a very nice site on the Alabama River. At that time the water was just a couple of feet below us; but dropped considerably during our stay.

    Date of visit: Mar 2010

Sites 35-32 are some of the other river-front sites.

Site 28 is on Isaac Creek.

Site 19 is another creek-side site.

Sites 30-29 are also on Isaac Creek.

Sites 44-43 are on the inside of the loop road.

    Sites 47-45.

Site 19 is one of the nicest sites on the creek.

There are three pull-through sites; this is site 50.

    Sites 51-50.

Located across from one of the two bathhouses are sites 16-15.

    Sites 54-53.

This was some of the flooding the afternoon we arrived.

Sites 8-7 were under water when we first arrived, but within 24 hours the water had gone down.

There are two of these small bathhouses. Each has a laundry room and free hot showers.

Two play areas provide a place for the kids to let off a little steam. Other recreational opportunities include horseshoes, volleyball, basketball.

The boat launch near the campground was under water.

Seen from our campsite, the lock and dam are located a few hundred yards downstream.

One can walk along the river bank down to the dam and lock.

Near the dam is the Alabama River Museum (unfortunately closed while we were there).

Some pleasant sunsets across the river.
