Plenty of sites to choose from this Wednesday, the last day of April. We chose site 110 in the Surfwood CG for its openness to the sun.

    Date of visit: Apr 2008

Since our stay was only overnight, I didn't get pictures of the other camp loops. We drove through, however, and they were much more shaded than sites in the Surfwood loop. This is site 126.

    Site 132.

    mackerri12
Site 134 was on our list of possible sites.

This gives you an overview of the small loop with sites 116 -124.

Sites 119 and 121 are quite open and sunny.

Site 113 is one of a few that offer a view of the ocean. Our site, 110, also did.

One of the two bathhouses in the Surfwood CG. It has hot showers - $.50 for 5 minutes.

There are two major boardwalks in the park. One goes halfway around Lake Cleone, while this one leads out to Laguna Point, where you'll probably find some seals basking on the rocks just offshore.

    There they are.

Hikers can have a nice walk around Lake Cleone. It was once a salt water marsh, but was cut off from the ocean by the construction of a railroad between it and the ocean.

This old railroad roadbed, called the Haul Road, once carried trains of timber to mills in Fort Bragg. Now hikers can enjoy walking along it.
