We arrived on a Tuesday afternoon in mid-April, and found plenty of sites without hookups available - we chose site 49, which looked out over the estuary. All the hookup sites were occupied or reserved.

    Date of visit: Apr 2008

Sites are all pretty much the same - here are sites 49-45 (no hookups). The none-hookup sites are all back-ins.

    morro11
Sites 21-22 are in the hook-up section, and these are all pull-throughs.

    morro12
    Site 85 on the left.

    morro13
    Sites 111 (l) and 98 (r).

    morro04
There are 5 bathhouses in the campground, offering free hot showers.

Morro Rock is the major geographical attraction in the area. It is a 23 million-year-old volcanic plug, one of nine in a line between Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo. Once quarried for its rock, it is now off-limits to humans, and has become a major nesting spot for peregrine falcons.

Designed in 1928, the golf course was included in the park when it was established in1934.

    morro07
The park includes a full-service marina. You can also rent canoes and kayaks.

    morro05
Located beside the marina is the Bayside Cafe, offering lunch and dinner. Guess we're not used to California prices, for we felt menu items were fairly expensive.

    morro18
Black Hill, just northeast of the CG, is another of the volcanic plugs. The nine are called the Nine Sisters. There is a trail from the campground to the summit.

In the morning light, the view of Morro Rock is a little clearer.
