We called the morning of our intended arrival just to ensure there would be a site available, and were told "Not a problem." And that was the case - we pulled in about 1300 and found the campground pretty much empty. The friendly and helpful staff at the park office assigned us to site 14 and we were quickly on our way to our site. A nice site - a lengthy pull-through and I was able to set up our satellite dish quite easily.
Sites 10-12 are on the outside of the perimeter road around the camground.
Campground roads and sites are not paved, and with recent rain, there were some places that were rather muddy.
 Sites 14, 15, 16 and 18 are long pull-through sites.
If you're part of a large family or want to camp with friends, there are several buddy sites. These are 13, 17, 19 and 20.
Sites 22,26 and 28 are also long pull-through sites.
 Sites 3-5 are pull-through sites.
Near the entrance of the RV park is a tent-only area with 18 sites. There is also a pavilion and small bathhouse.
This is the second section of the tent area; all 18 sites have 20A electric and water hookups.
In the center of the campground loop is the bathhouse. It is a bit dated and could use some paint inside, but was clean and offered free hot showers and a washer and dryer.
Near the bathhouse is a screened pavilion.
The pavilion features a large fireplace, kitchen facilities and a number of large picnic tables.
Chehaw is a great place for families, with lots to do. Near the entrance of the campground is a large playground for the kids, one of the largest play parks in southwest Georgia.
Don't forget to bring your competition Frisbies - there is a disc golf course.
There are several miles of bike trails through the park.
If you have some BMX'ers in the family, they will enjoy the BMX track. Numerous races are held throughout the year. |
Don't forget to take the kids to the Animal Park, which is home to over 219 specimens representing 84 species. |
