Comlara County Park is located on Evergreen Lake about 10 miles north of Bloomington, IL, just west of I-39. It has a fairly large campground with 138 camp sites of all types. The staff was very pleasant and the park is well-maintained. Some sites are kept open all winter.

We arrived in September about a week after Labor day and had our choice of almost any site - there were very few campers here. Since it was a hot day, 93 by mid-afternoon, we found a site that would provide some afternoon shade, #59.

    Date of visit: Sept 2013

Sites 53-58 are on a slight slope with a bit of a view of the lake.

    comlara04
About 40 years ago the county planted lots of trees throughout the campground and the results are now evident. The majority of sites now have at least one tree to provide some summer shade. These are sites 64-72.

    comlara05
    Sites 83-104.

    comlara07
There are nine walk-in sites, just a few hundred feet from the parking area. This is site 120B.

    comlara09
    Sites 77-81.

    comlara11
    Sites 34-36.

    comlara14
Sites 7-12 are in the year-round loop and offer 50A hookups.

    comlara15
Site 18 is a rather private site with a view of the lake.

    comlara16
Sites 48A, 50, 52 and 59 (that's us barely visible way up at the end).

    comlara12
There is one centrally-located bathhouse with free hot showers. Missing, however, in or near the shower stalls, were benches, shelves or hooks.

    comlara10
Scattered throughout the campground are a number of rather snazzy privies.

    comlara13
The lake is large, offering good fishing and boating. Near the campground is a fishing dock.

    comlara08
Along the path to one of the walk-in tent sites is this old iron truss bridge. There was no sign to tell of its history.
