  • South Toledo Bend State Park, LA

South Toledo Bend SP is located at the south end of Toledo Bend Reservoir, on the Louisiana side, near Anacoco. This is one of the newest state parks we have ever visited; it opened just two years ago.

We drove around the loop of 55 campsites before deciding on #44. With the campground located on a small peninsula, virtually every site has a view of the water.

    Date of visit: Mar 2007

Site #1 is at left, the motorhome is on #2. Hookups feature 50/30 amp electric and water.

Site #17 at the left. This is indicative of the mix of sun and trees. It wasn't too hard to set up the satellite TV Dish.

At the right is site #20. Beyond toward the left are three pull-through sites, # 15, 16, and 18.

The most desireable sites are at the end of the loop, offering great views of the lake. The white car is on #34, the trailer at right on #35.

From left to right: #41, 40, and 38.

#38 at left, #37 beyond it to the right.

Toledo Bend features one of the nicest bathhouses we have encountered. Modern, clean, nice hot showers and laundry facilities ($1.00 per load).

A nice touch: free firewood! This is from the cleanup of damage done by Hurricane Rita.

There's a 3000' paved path from the campground to the Visitors Center. In the distance is a foot bridge across an inlet.

The Visitors Center has some nice exhibits of local wildlife. One can also borrow nature books.

Just a short walk from your campsite is the beach.

On the way into the campground one finds a dual boat-ramp. That's a flock of coots swimming in the water. And I also saw a bald eagle soaring overhead.
