As you pull in off MD 2-4, you stop at the office to check in. There is a manned security gate you pass through to get to the campground and other facilities.

Last visit: Nov 2009

Since there had been very heavy rain here just a couple days before our visit, I knew the grass sites would be in poor condition - lots of mud. We were able to get a paved site in Area F, #38.

solomons3
There are a few sites that are almost waterfront. On our visit in Nov 2006, we were on site #57 in Area A. Sites in this area are either grass or gravel. In wet weather, some can get very muddy. On previous visits, we've seen motorhomes and trailers stuck in the mud.

Great sunsets across the Patuxent river.

This shows some of the sites in Area A - the trailer at right is on A-26.

solomons8
These sites are in Area G. A bit crowded, but with at least some gravel instead of dirt and/or grass.

Electric hookups offer 20/30/50 amp outlets - not all are 50.

One of several bathhouses in the campground. Laundry facilities are in the right side of the building.

solomons9
Area C is a section that has paved sites. The trailer at left is on Site C-2.

solomons10
Area F is the newest loop, and quite popular - we had never been able to get a site there until our last visit in 2009. These are all paved and more widely spaced than the rest of the campground.

Another view of Area F. To the left is site F-19.

solomons11
Adjacent to Area F are two yurts that can be rented.

Here is the bathhouse and laundry room for Area F.

solomons4
Along the shore of the Patuxent River are several cottages for rent. Elsewhere through the park are several other types of rental units.

solomons14
Point Patience Marina can handle just about any size boat you might have.

solomons15
Enjoy fishing? A long pier is available.

solomons16
There's a nice walking path along the river; at the south end of the path are number of picnic shelters and tables overlooking the river to the left.

solomons17
There's a swimming beach near the main area of campsites.

solomons18
Among the recreational amenities is this miniature golf course.

solomons19
Tennis players have four courts on which to play, and there are several basketball courts.

solomons20
If you don't want to swim in the river, there are a total of four swimming pools, ranging from wading pools for the kids to full-sized pools.

solomons21
One of several play area for the youngsters to enjoy. In the background are several rental cabins.

solomons22
In the middle of the complex, a paved nature trail and boardwalk wend through woods and marshland.
