John W. Kyle State Park, MS

John W. Kyle State Park is located just below the Sardis Lake Dam about 10 miles northeast of Batesville. It's open all year and is a very popular fishing spot. It is immediately next door to Oak Grove COE Park and three other smaller COE parks are very close: Sleepy Bend, Beach Point and Elmer's Hill. The park was originally built by the Corps of Engineers, but the state took it over some years ago. It appears that the state has not maintained the park to the same high standards as the COE.

We did not stay here, but walked through the park while staying at the adjacent COE's Oak Grove Park. Here are sites 99 and 97.

Sites 209, 207, 206 and 204. Most of the sites in the 200-series sites have shared electric posts, so you might need an extension cord.

There are several bathhouses scattered through the campground. This is the most modern of them - it's heated and provides free hot showers.

There is a small laundry facility - when we visited, there was an "Out of Order" posted on the door.

Campers at John W. Kyle can launch their boats at the COE ramp, which is located right next door to the campground.
