Timberlake Campground, owned and operated by the Pearl River Water Supply District, is located in Brandon MS, on a peninsula at the east end of the Ross Barnett Reservoir dam. Forty percent of the 271 sites are for short-term rentals, while the remainder are seasonal. The park is well-maintained and offers a good mix of sunny and shaded sites.

Timberlake accepts reservations for only 13 of the 108 short-term sites. Since we were heading into spring vacation week, we decided to arrive on a Thursday. We were glad we did, for there were only a few sites left, but we got one of the better ones with a view of the water - site N108.

    Date of visit: Mar 2011

I got up early one morning to walk around the little inlet to get this picture of our site across the water.

We were in the newest section of the campground, which is located near the front of the park nearer the highway (but noise was not a problem). Sires N68-N72 are on the left; N104-N108 on the right.

There's a small loop with a few sites suitable for tents, pop-ups, and vans.

    timberlake06
There's a nice row of sites along the water that are in the short-term section - sites N1 to N8.

    timberlake07
Sites to the left of this cross-road are in the seasonal part of the campground, while short-term rentals are to the right. Site MR-13 is on the left; N9 and N10 are on the right.

    Short-term sites N40, N41 and N47.

Some of the seasonal sites are very pleasant, being along the shore and nicely shaded.

There are three bathhouses in the short-term areas of the park. Each is heated and offers free hot showers. Our only complaint was the lack of privacy in the shower area.

As one enters the campground, the office and community room is right ahead, with the swimming pool beside it.

If you want to bring your boat along, there's a boat launch ramp right in the campground.
