When the entrance gatehouse is closed, campers should continue on the park office to register. The office also has a meeting room that can be rented for special events.

We arrived on a mid-March Monday afternoon and found several sites from which we could choose. Site 15 was our choice - a little more separated from other sites and a good place for our satellite TV dish.

    tombigbee sp06
The campground is a small, but pleasant one with 20 sites. This is site 1.

    tombigbee sp07
    Sites 2 and 3.

    tombigbee sp08
Sites 4-6. All sites are back-in sites. Most sites will require at least a little leveling.

    tombigbee sp09
Site 7 was closed for some reason.

    tombigbee sp10
Sites 8 and 9 (the trailer is on 8).

    tombigbee sp11
If you prefer a nice strategically-placed shade tree, site 10 should be the one.

    tombigbee sp12
Sites 11 and 12 are located on the outside of the loop overlooking a fairly deep gully.

    tombigbee sp13
If sun is your preference, go for site 13.

    tombigbee sp14
    Site 14.

The small bathhouse was clean and offers free hot showers. The first time we went to take a shower, however, the water was barely a trickle out of the showerhead. I called the park office to report it and the maintenance crew took care of things - later that day, the water flow was fine. There are also two washers ($1.50) and two dryers ($1.00).

If you'd like something a little different from camping, the park has 7 small cottages for rent. With a fireplace, screened porch and an open deck, a family could be quite comfortable.

    tombigbee sp19
The day-use area is quite spacious with a number of pavilions and picnic tables. Some overlook the small lake, created by a dam over which the entrance road passes.

    tombigbee sp18
There are a number of play areas for the kids, with some smaller things here and there. This pair of a cowboy and an Indian facing off is about 10 feet tall - fun for climbing.

    tombigbee sp15
More things for the kids to enjoy and there are also two disk golf courses.

    tombigbee sp21
Don't let that disk golf "hole" above lull you into thinking these courses are a breeze. Far from it, as most of the "fairways" are in the woods. Here we're looking back toward the tee, just barely visible through the trees down in the gully.

There are three primitive tent sites up a slight hill beyond the main campground. Each requires a short walk to the site from the parking area.
