Coyote Creek State Park is located in northeastern New Mexico on NM-434 about 15 miles south of Angel Fire. Located along a small creek, the campground offers 34 sites, some with water and electric hookups.

Coyote Creek has a pretty fancy entrance, compared to most NM state parks. However, once inside, the park is a bit of a let-down from most New Mexico state parks - not quite as well-developed.

    Date of visit: Oct 2013

We pulled in a chilly Friday afternoon and found only one other camper here. We ended up on Site 10 at the end of a row of closely-spaced sites. Had it been busy, we would have gone a little further into the park to find a space with a little space. These are sites 1-10.

    coyote creek08
Sites 15-17 look to be fairly new ones; they do not have hookups, although there is a central water tap. There are several other newer sites, two of them with hookups.

    coyote creek09
Site 18 does have electric and water hookups.

    coyote creek19
Sites 21 and 22 are further into the campground area, across a small stream. There are no hookups in this area.

    coyote creek12
Site 23 is a large site - no hookups.

    coyote creek22
Not too far from the bathhouse is site 11, a designated handicap site.

    coyote creek13
Up a rather rough road at the far end of the campground is the Encino Loop with 6 tent-only sites.

    coyote creek14
Bears are evidently a problem, for the Encino Loop offers a bear-proof food storage box.

    coyote creek05
The main bathhouse with showers is located near the park entrance and the row of 10 electric sites. It's closed from October through March..

    coyote creek15
Scattered throughout the campground are several modern vault toilets.

    coyote creek21
There's a small play area for the kids.

    coyote creek20
Coyote Creek runs through the campground. Signs indicate that you might have some luck fishing.
