    Leasburg Dam State Park is located about 15 miles north of Las Cruces, NM, just a short distance off I-25. Located along the Rio Grande River, the park offers two campgrounds, hiking trails, fishing, canoeing and kayaking.

    We arrived mid-week in November and found several available sites from which to choose. Here we are on site 18 in the Cactus Patch Campground.

    All 10 sites (15-24) in Cactus Patch are pull-throughs and all have electric (30A) and water hookups. These are sites15 and 16.

    Site 24 is a nice site with a view to the north.

    Sites 1 and 2 are in the Greasewood Campground. They, along with sites 3 and 4, have been permanently closed due to archeological concerns.

    Site 12 has no hookups.

    Site 14 is a nice site with a view down over the Rio Grande valley. No hookups, though.

    Located near the office is the modern bathhouse. It was very clean and offeres hot showers.

    One of the features of the park office is a large book-swap area. Leave one, take one.

    There is a large play area for the kids.

    There are several hiking trails through the park.
