  • Harris Beach State Park, OR

Harris Beach SP is located on US-101 just north of Brookings, OR. It offers 149 mostly wooded campsites close to the Pacific shoreline.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and had no problem finding a site, although all the prime waterview sites were taken. We found site A-9 to our liking, sunnier than most.

    Date of visit: May 2008

The prime sites here are in the A loop, where 11 of them have a great view of the ocean. This is A-18.

A-29 is one of the sunnier sites.

A-21 is open to the ocean.

Moving back from the front row, there is a mix of sites with and without hookups. C-6 is a tent site.

    D-1 is a large site.

Of the sites available, B-3 would have been our second choice, thanks to its abundant sun.

Along the back row are some tent sites with interesting stone walls around the parking area. A few of these would be big enough for a small RV.

We found some follow Lazy Dazers on B-31.

There are several modern, clean bathhouses in the CG. They offer free hot showers and at least one has laundry facilities ($1.00 washer, $1.25 dryer). Unfortunately, the hot water ran out before I had finished my shower, although DW had no problems.

A short walk from the campground will take you down to the shoreline wih a great view of Gorilla Rock.

At the foot of the path is this interesting hole through a large rock.

    Almost sunset.
