Ricketts Glen State Park is located in eastern Pennsylvania about 20 miles WNW of Wilkes-Barre, covering over 13,000 acres. There are many miles of hiking trails, a 120-site campground, and over 20 waterfalls.

Just inside the entrance is the park headquarters and office, along with a small store selling sweats, etc. We were told to go pick out a site and come back to register.

    Date of visit: Sept 2013

Most of the sites are quite wooded, and we like a little sun, so we selected site 103, one of a few that are more open.

    ricketts06
Site 109 is typical of most sites - well shaded.

    ricketts07
Site 118 offers a glimpse of the lake through the trees. Sites 117 and 130 also provide a slight view of the lake.

    ricketts10
    Site 8.

    ricketts12
Site 65 is one of the best sites, situated quite close to the water.

    ricketts13
    Site 64.

    ricketts16
    Site 61.

    ricketts17
    Site 36.

The bathhouse is quite typical, but clean enough and offering free hot showers.

    ricketts18
There is a amphitheater near the lake, where during the summer, rangers offer various programs.

The campground is located on a peninsula jutting out into Lake Jean. It's a great fishing spot and place for canoeing and kayaking.

Unfortunately, due our brief visit, we didn't get to explore more of the park and its features, which includes 22 named waterfalls, the highest of which is 94 feet.
