George Washington State Park, RI
George Washington State Park is located on Bowdish Reservoir in the far northwest corner of Little Rhody, just a few miles from CT and MA. It is a very typical New England state park - in the woods, beside a lake and without hookups. Facilities have been improved immensely with the recent completion of a new bathhouse with flush toilets and hot showers. Scattered through the campground are a number of porta-potties.

It was a beautiful New England summer day when we arrived. We enjoyed a leisurely stroll through the park to check out the various campsites. Here are sites 8 and 7.
Most sites are quite private, separated from the neighbors by trees and brush. This is site 11.
Site 19 is located on a short spur loop.
Sites 23-21 are a little more open to each other than most sites, making them a good choice for a large family or group of friends.
Sites along the main camp road, such as 25, are fairly level and suitable for RV's.
Site 26 is located not too far from the beach and boat ramp. It's also sunnier than most sites and yet is quite private.
Typical of most sites is 33.
Site 38 is in the foreground with site 19 in the distance beyond it.
Site 40 on the left is a nice grassy site with some sun, site 39 is beyond it in the shade.
There is a separate loop up on a hill where most sites are more suitable for tents and perhaps popup trailers, although there are a few spots where an RV might be comfortable. This is site 46.
Site 47 is definitely not a good choice for an RV, being quite hilly.
On the other hand, site 62 is a pull-through suitable for small to medium RV's.
The upper camp loop has 5 sites designed solely for tents. One parks near the road and will find a raised tent platform (beyond the table) beside the table and fire-ring. This is site T3.
This is the brand-new bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets.
There is a very nice beach for sunning and swimming.
A boat ramp allows campers to get their boats in the water for a little fishing.
There is a set of horseshoe pits near the bathhouse. I don't think I would leave my car parked where this one is, especially with no backstop behind the post.
