Table Rock SP is located in extreme northwest South Carolina, just off the Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Highway. Along with camping facilities, the park offers miles of hiking trails and a day-use area with beach and playground.

Check-in is at the park office across the highway from the campground. Table Rock Mt looms over Lake Oolenoy. From the CG, it's a 4-mile hike to the 3124' summit. Another trail leads to the summit of Pinnacle Mt, 3425'.

This is site #37, up at the top of the campground loop. We tend to like the high ground.

It took a little work to find a hole through the trees for satellite reception, but we finally got a strong signal. Verizon National Access service was available, although the signal was not too strong.

Here are some of the more open sites. None are very level.

All sites offer W/E (30A) hookups. There are 72 sites in the main campground loop.

These are smaller sites more suitable for tents or pop-ups. There are only a handful of sites suitable for large rigs.

    tablerock15
There are some pull-through sites, but they're not any more level than other sites.

A former over-flow area, White Oaks CG, is now a regular camping loop, located a mile or so beyond the main campground. Although we didn't like it as well the main CG, other folks obviously thought otherwise. There are 25 sites in this section.

The three bathhouses in the main CG are of the standard South Carolina design. We enjoyed hot showers. There is one bathhouse at White Oaks.

Located nearer to the day-use area are 14 cottages. Some, like this one, were built by the CCC in the 1930'a, while others are newer. In the background through the trees you can see Table Rock Mt.

Located on Pinnacle Lake, the day-use area offers a nice beach and swimming area and a large shaded playground for the kids.

    tablerock26
All the hiking trails start at the day-use area, where you are asked to register before hiking. Before splitting, the trail follows Carrick Creek, which is a beautiful mountain stream.

Another view of Carrick Creek. If you're not up to climbing either Table Rock Mt or Pinnacle Mt, we heartily recommend the Carrick Creek loop, a 1.9 mile circular route.
