The park is about 8 miles west of Pulaski on a paved winding road, but well worth the trip. We arrived on a Saturday at noon in mid-April, and although the best waterfront sites were all taken, there were plenty of others to choose from, including site 29, from which we had a great view of the lake and surrounding hills. Although check-in is at the park store in the day-use area, a friendly park attendant came by shortly after our arrival to sign us in, saving us a two-mile walk.

Another view of us on site 29, taken from near the park office. No, it doesn't look like a mile from this perspective, does it? But the road wanders back around an inlet of the lake.

Looking at the campground from the docks at the park store.

Another overall view of the campground.
Site 4 on the left, site 3 to the right.
Sites 11, 13 and 15 on the right are all nice waterfront sites.
Site 25 is probably the best of the lot - sort of by itself surrounded by water.
Sites 25, 23, 21 and 19 in the background are all waterfront sites. In the foreground are sites 30, 32 and 34.

Another view of sites 23, 21 and 19.

Ah, the retired life! All those other folks headed home yesterday (Sunday), leaving us with our private campground.
Typical bathhouse, nothing too fancy but clean enough and with free hot showers.
Just a few hundred feet away across an arm of the lake are the park office, boat launch and docks. But it's about a mile by road from the campground.
You can rent a small boat with electric motor if you'd like to do some fishing or explore the lake.
Just past the park store is the day-use picnic area. Since Gatewood Reservoir is the water supply for Pulaski, no swimming is allowed. Nor are gas boat motors.
What a beautiful morning! The temperature dropped to 29 this morning, forming steam fog over the lake.
Shortly after the sun rose above the trees, the fog dissipated.
