Madison Campground is located on the west side of Yellowstone NP, about 17 miles from the West Entrance to the park in West Yellowstone, MT. It's a large campground with 291 sites.

One of the main reasons we enjoy traveling in the fall, besides the great weather, are the not-so-crowded campgrounds. We had no problem getting a site at Madison in mid-September. Here we are on site 38.

Most of the sites are pull-offs or pull-throughs, but there are some back-in sites at the far ends of each loop road. This LD was on site 48.

Sites are fairly small and close together.

It appears that Madison was built before the age of the large RV's of today.

The campground is located in a pine grove. Sites are pretty much shaded, but there is a little sun here and there.
