    Mammoth Campground

    Mammoth Campground is located in the northwest corner of Yellowstone Park and is the first campground one encounters when entering through the North Entrance. Situated on a hillside, the campground provides 68 campsites.

    Here we are on site 62, a pleasant sunny site on the upper part of the campground.

    Site 59 has a great view of the valley.

    These sites are along the lower road of the campground. For a great view of the campground and valley, it's a short hike up that mound.

    We particularly enjoyed the openness and great views that one finds at Mammoth.

    At the northern end of the camp loop sites are more shaded, such as site 24.

    Odd-numbered sites 39-45.

    All sites are pull-throughs.

    The small building is open in the late afternoon for selling wood to campers. Above it on the hillside is one of several bathrooms - no showers.
