FL Table Extension |
Our FL had been delivered with a rather large table extension, which was bulky, heavy and a pain to set up. I came up with this small, light-weight version which quickly slips into place and lets me sit on the sofa at dinner-time so I can see the evening news on the TV. |
An overall view of the extension. It's made from a piece of 1/2" birch plywood. I've found that Minwax Golden Pecan is a close match to LD's interior paneling. Since we'll be using this for eating, I put several coats of polyurethane on it. |
To provide some extra strength to the two extension tabs on the left, I put a piece of steel strap along each. |
For use, one merely slides the two tabs into the two drawer handles mounted under the fold-down table. I tried, without success, to find some small stake brackets; hence the drawer pulls. Actually they may be better, for due to their shape, there's room for the steel straps. |
