Musings of the WxToad

Trust me - The WxToad does NOT lean to the left!

October 2012

mrtoad balance
27 Oct 12: I have long felt that Obama, to use Ed Klein's word, is an amateur with no clue. The Benghazi attack on our consulate and the death of 4 Americans, including the US ambassador, has proved it. Every day brings new revelations about the president's handlig of the affair. Washington knew almost immediately is was a planned attack and had nothing to do with the anti-Islam video. Yet it took nearly two weeks for the White House to admit that it was a terror attack. More recently we have learned that CIA operatives were told NOT to go attempt to repel the attack. USAF fighter aircraft were only 450 miles away in Italy, yet they were NOT dispatched to assist. And why were repeated requests prior to the attack for increased security denied? Political? Obama would like us to believe the war on terror ended with the killing of Bin Laden. Not so!

-------

26 Oct 12: Media bias: If a tell-all book vilifying a Republican vice-presidential candidate were published, I'm sure we would see news of it plastered all over the major media outlets (think of what they did to Sarah Palin). But isn't it interesting we've heard virtually nothing about “The Payoff: Why Wall Street Always Wins.” In it, Jeff Connaughton, a former Biden staffer, has some rather negative comments about his former boss, depicting Biden as an “egomaniacal autocrat” who was “determined to manage his staff through fear”.

-------

23 Oct 12: President Obama has made a big show of his support for women, including the issue of equal pay. Yet isn't it interesting that women in the White House make on average 18% less than their male counterparts?

-------

19 Oct 12: CNN editor Mark Whittaker issued an internal memo praising Candy Crowley for her superb perfomance as the debate moderator the other night. I guess he missed the part where she was quite wrong in correcting Romney and even said so the next morning. And did you ntocie that the Dems have gotten more time on the clock in all three debates. Which has led to yet another great excuse from the Left: Obama talks slower and thus he should get more time. Are these people for real??

-------

18 Oct 12:Four recent examples of the media's bias:

1. An article in US weekly where the headline touts the $1690 dress Ann Romney wore to the second debate. Buried way down in the article was the fact that Michelle Obama's dress cost allmmost twice that - $3290.

2. The candidates appearances on The View. The Obama's were grilled on such controverial matters as how romantic Obama is. The panel jumped on Ann Romney, however, about Romney's not having served in the military (I don't recall that Obama did, either, so I don't know why that question is important) and his views on abortion.

3. The debates: both Candy Crowley and Martha Raddatz were obviously on the Dem's side, with Crowley even going so far as to correct Romney over his assertions about the Benghazi attack....even though Romney had it right!

4. Universal Studio's $89 a head Halloween extravaganza with characters portraying Obama and Romney. The Obama character was favorably presented, while Romney was depicted as mean and having a potty-mouth.

-------

15 Oct 12: Hillary Clinton is today's topic. I don't know whether to feel sorry for her these days over her role in the Libya ambassador assassination or outraged. On the one hand, it sure appears that thanks to her inaction when presented repeated requests by embassy staff for additional security support, Ambassador Stevens is now dead. On the other hand, it appears that Obama is willing to throw her under the bus when it comes to the discussion about whether the attack was an act of terrorism or merely a "spontaneous mob" reaction to that anti-Islam video. Following last week's comgressional hearings on the subject, it seems pretty clear that the State Department knew almost immediately that there was no "spontaneous mob" and gee, it was 11 Sep - what a coincidence. But hey, she's going to be stepping down anyway, so what the heck? Once again the entire Obama administration has shown how totally inept they are.

-------

14 Oct 12: Once again the Nobel Peace Prize folks have demonstrated just how irrelevant they have become. First it was Al Gore, for a movie full of lies; then it was Barack Obama, for a promise of peace (which has never materialized), and now, drum-roll please....the European Community. Last I had noticed the European Community is in shambles thanks to totally irresponsible fiscal policies on the part of many of its members.

-------

11 Oct 12: It'll be interesting to watch tonight's VP debate with an eye on the moderator, ABC's Martha Raddatz. She might be perceived to have a bias, since President Obama attended her wedding some years ago. Let's see how objective she can be.

Addendum 12 Oct 12: Not very - her bias was pretty obvious. But how about that Joe Biden? What a performance he put on with the grins, rolling eyes and throwing up of hands.

-------

10 Oct 12: According the Information Clearing House, Brits spent $57.8 million on the royal family in 2011. That same year, we spent $1.4 billion on the Obama's. Wow!

-------

7 Oct 12: Are we nuts or what?? We're at war with radical, fanatical Muslims, whether some want to admit it or not. But good ole political correctness is showing its face, as usual. I'll cite two instances: a decorated US Army Lt Col, Matthew Dooley, an instructor at the Joint Forces Staff College at the National Defense University, has had his career ruined because a group of Islamic organizations criticized his course on radical Islam. Following the group's letter to the White House, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff slammed the officer and his course, and Dooley subsequently received a negative Officer Effectiveness Report. His previous evaluations had all been oustanding. Now let's go over to the FBI, where massive changes to its training manual were made. the following terms can no longer be used: Islam, Muslim, jihad, enemy, Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah, al Queda, caliphate and Shariah law. This would be like banning the use of the words Russia, communist, and Cold War back in the 50's.

-------

6 Oct 12: How many times have heard MSNBC's Chris Mathews talk about how smart he thinks President Obama is? I heard him say it yet again after the debate. I have a question for Mathews: If Obama is so smart, why didn't he refute Romney's statements during the debate, instead of letting his re-election hacks run all over the place AFTER the debate to comment on Romney's claims? And while on the topic of the debate, how about this quote from Bill Maher: "Looks like he took my million and spent it all on weed." Obama's arrogance led to complacency and he appeared shell-shocked that Romney was well-prepared and well-spoken. Now some supporters say he should have been allowed to use a Teleprompter! What's next - an earpiece so his puppetmaster can whisper in his ear to give him help?

-------

4 Oct 12: Wow - thanks to last night's Presidential debate, we have some great entertainment today. The left is going nuts over Obama's weak performance and Romney's strong, solid presence. MSNBC's Chris Mathews is still crying after his comment to co-Obama Choir member Rachel Maddow last night, "Where was Obamaa tonight?" Gee, Chris, no tingle up your leg last night? And of course the excuses are being made for the President; the best being the line from Al Gore that it was the altitude in Denver, that Obama didn't have time to acclimate after his early afternoon arrival.

-------

3 Oct 12: The WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Act requires employers of more than 100 employees to notify workers of impending layoffs 60 days prior to the layoffs occurring. There are three exceptions to the requirement: 1) a faltering company that is actively seeking capital or business and believes notification would prevent it from obtaining such capital, 2) a natural disaster and 3) unforeseeable business circumstances. Pretty clear. We're facing the mandatory sequestration budget cuts taking effect on 1 January 2013. Last friday the Obama administration issued a memorandum telling employers that they need not follow the law! And...if employees sue their employer because of untimely notification, the federal government (that's you and me) will cover the legal costs of the employer. Hmmm, looking at the calendar, I see that 60 days prior to 1 January is something like 2 November. Golly, that's just before the election. But no, it certainly can't be that Obama doesn't want to raise the hackles of workers just before the election? Can it?
