28 Feb 13: So...are you ready for the war with Iran? Israeli TV reported the other day that when Peace Prize winner Obama visits Israel next month, he is expected to tell PM Netanyahu to cool it and that the US is prepared to attack Iran this summer to halt that country's nuclear weapon program. Well, gee, didn't everyone get pretty upset with George Bush when he invaded Iraq? How come Obama can get away with this? There ought to be three prerequisites for going to war: Congress ahould have to declare war, Congress should have to find the money for it and the declaration should also resume the draft. I'll wager there would be no war if those requirements were in place. Considering that Iran has not directly attacked the US, how can Obama get away with getting us into another war all by himself? Can we take back that Peace Prize?

25 Feb 13: "The sky is falling, the sky is falling!"  No, wait - it's really "The planes are falling, the planes are falling." That's what Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is telling us about sequestration. The border will be left wide open, we'll all be eating contanimated food and all our teachers and first-respnders will be laid off. I can't figure out that last one about teachers and first-responders - they're paid by local governments; why will they all be laid off? And all over $85 billion, which is just two percent of the federal budget. Only a month ago Congress had no problem passing a pork-laden Hurricane Sandy relief bill to the tune of $60 billion. All this does is point out what a complete bunch of losers we have in Washington - they have absolutely no interest in the health of this country at all. Shame on us voters for not turning them all out last fall.

-------

22 Feb 13: Our CINC (Con-man-in-Chief) and his leftist friends are sure busy these days preaching "The End of the World As We Know It" if sequestration is allowed to happen....apparently mindless of the fact that it was his idea. He's running all over the country telling his faithful followers that air traffic will come to a halt, first-responders and teachers will be laid off by the hundreds of thousands, on it goes. But what I find interesting is that even with the cuts mandated by sequestration, we'll still be spending more than we did last year! So please explain to me why is the world going to end???

21 Feb 13: Screwed again! Once more taxpayers are going to be left holding an empty bag. The latest bum deal involves the probable sale of Fisker Automotive to the Chinese. Back in 2010 Obama gave the struggling firm $529 million. The company has never really gotten its feet under itself and thus the likely sale.....for a price estimated between $200 and $300 million. That sure doesn't cover OUR loan to the company. And oh yes, the Chinese get the technology that you and I paid for. Where, oh where does the government get the authority to take our tax dollars and give them to private companies...that also happen to be big campaign donors? Solyndra, anyone?

-------

20 Feb 13: Seems like I recalll, back in 2008, that the media had a field day blaming President Bush for the sudden and steep increase in gasoline prices. Now, here in 2013, in the midst of an even greater increase in gasoline prices, the media is silent. Why?

Likewise, regarding the coverage of Jesse Jackson Jr's gullty plea in his mis-use of campaign funds for personal purposes: why aren't the media usng the normal "D-IL" after his name? They've always used similar nomenclature with other political miscreants. Why don't they want to world to know that he's a Democrat from Illinois?

-------

19 Feb 13: Once more - sequestration: In the past few days we've learned that the idea for the sequester originated in the White House back in the summer of 2011 in order to win the debt increase battle. Yes, Republicans went along with it, so the reality is that Obama proposed it, Congress (both parties) went along with it and Obama signed it. Listening to Obama now, one hears that the world will end as we know it on March first if nothing is done and the sequester kicks in. Today he trots out the first defenders (police, firemen, etc., and says their ranks will be drastically cut if the GOP allows sequestration. Wait a minute - it was your idea, too, Mr President. All in all, this whole sequester situation serves only to point out how incredibly stupid everyone in Washington is - they all voted for and enacted a law which they now all say will cause Armegeddon. I say let it happen and let them live with the reults. With luck, maybe voters will remember this stupidity next year at election time.

18 Feb 13: Congratulations to Danica Patrick. She became the first woman to win the pole position for the upcoming Daytona 500 NASCAR race. Jeff Gordon, who snagged the #2 position said: "I can say I was the fastest guy today."

-------

15 Feb 13: Back when it was revealed that President Bush had authorized waterboarding as a method of gaining more information about terrorist activities, the left and its liberal media went berserk condemning the practice.  But now we have learned that President Obama is using drones to attack and kill American citizens overseas with absolutely no due process of law....and the left and media seem to think that's just fine and dandy. Wow!

-------

13 Feb 13: State of the Union speech? Yeah, I watched the Scam Artist-in-Chief. How the heck can he propose all that wonderful stuff AND tell us it won't add one dime to the deficit? "Spend our way to prosperity" - gee, how come that doesn't work for me?

And oh yes, remember that circuit court ruling a couple of weeks ago that said Obama's supposedly-recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board were unconstitutional? Well, that didn't matter - those appointees are still on the job, cranking out all those pro-labor directives.

-------

12 Feb 13: Ho-hum....time for the State of the Union show this evening. I wonder how many times we'll hear these words; "fair share", "balanced approach", "investments" and "comprehensive reform"? Code words for something quite different. Well, at least we won't have to watch Nancy popping up and down behind him and it's always fun to watch Biden.

-------

9 Feb 13: Sequestration: The Republicans should call Obama's buff and let it happen on the first of March. After all, these draconian cuts were his idea that he used to get his way in the debt-ceiling crisis in July 0f 2011. Now he says those cuts shouldn't happen and in fact he wants more revenue....aka tax increases. Didn't he just get some hefty tax increases a month ago in the fiscal cliff deal? Obama proposed sequestration and signed the bill when it was passed; he now should live with his decision. It's obvious this guy has no intention of offering up serious spending cuts, and since sequestration provides $1.2 trillion in cuts over ten years, Republicans should take it. It's the only possibility they have of getting any meaningful spending cuts while Obama is in the White House. And I have to wonder how it can be a crisis both ways - the economy plainly faces a crisis if we keep on borrowing and spending like a drunken sailor, and yet the other side says we'll cause a crisis with these deep cuts.  Someone isn't telling us the whole story, folks, but bottom line, Obama should be made eat sequestration.

-------

8 Feb 13: I guess Hillary was right during her 2008 primary fight with Obama: who would you want answering the phone at the White House at 2 AM? If you watched Secretary of Defense Panetta and Joint Chiefs Chairman Dempsey testify before Congress yesterday, it's plainly evident that Obama was missing in action the night of the Benghazi attack. Panetta and Dempsey had a previously-scheduled meeting with Obama at the White House at 5 PM. That was the last they heard from him. Apparently he was too busy with campaign matters to monitor the Benghazi affair. Hillary, too, however, was missing in action that night as well - Dempsey and Panetta didn't hear from her either. Why is that every time we hear something new about Benghazi, it just seems to make the Obama team look even more incompetent than ever?

7 Feb 13: So the US Postal Service has announced the cessation of delivery of first-class mail on Saturdays. OK - that's one tiny step. Packages will still be delivered, Post Offices will remain open, and mail will be distributed to PO boxes. That doesn't seem to me as if it will result in significant savings. It's really a shame the Post Office is so hobbled by Congress when it comes to implementing money-savings measures. The little town I live in has two Post Offices - why? The next town over also has two Post Offices fairly close together. And where we lived in Maryland a few years ago there were two small Post Offices about a mile and a half apart. In each of the cases, one of the two offices should be closed. Long gone are the days when patrons walked to the Post Office. What the Postal Service needs is a process similar to the military Base Closure commission. Let an independent group examine the operations of the Post Office and make recommendations for making operations more efficient, including the closure of un-needed offices. The commission's recommendations would go to Congress which would have only a Yes or No vote - no ability to make changes based on politics.

5 Feb 13: I was a bit surprised at this story: 6th-grade students in Texas are asked to design a flag for a socialist/communist country! It's part of a radical curriculum called CSCOPE being taught in Texas schools. This same curriculum calls the Boston Tea Party an act of terrorism. Liberals are hard at work to re-write history and indoctrinate our young people with the idea that the US is the bad guy.

-------

4 Feb 13: Let's hear it for Mr. Obama's "AFFORDABLE" health care act! Yet another unintended consequence: In January US health insurers sent out notices to agents that they will no longer guarantee health insurance preminums for a year. It used to be that an individual buyer could pay a year's worth of premiums up front and perhaps save a few bucks over making monthly payments. But no more - health insurance will henceforth be on a monthly basis. And without the annual price guarantee, premiums for those buyers can go up at any time.

Why is this happening? According to an article on Forbes.com, it's because the liberal idiots who put Obamacare together ignored virtually all actuarial principles in settiing it up. Insurance companies have absolutely no idea how much newly-mandated coverage is going to cost them, so how can they possibly set rates for a year out? They have to accept anyone, keep kids on parents coverage until the kid turns 26 and require coverage to be provided for things people wouldn't choose themselves. So now you can go buy some health insurance based on your current budget. But in perhaps only three months the rates may well take a hefty jump meaning you can no longer afford it and there you are with no health insurance. Ms. Pelosi was right: "you have to pass the bill to find out what's in it." Thank you, Mr. Obama.

-------

1 Feb 13: Another instance of the idiocy of the Obama administration: last week the District of Columbia US Court of Appeals struck down Obama's 2012 mandate for celluosic biofuels, fuels made from switchgrass, corn husks or wood pulp, saying it was based on wishful thinking instead of accurate estimates. The 2012 quota called for 8.7 million gallons to be produced and mixed with gasoline. But despite the court's ruling last week, the EPA has since announced even higher requirements for 2013! They're calling for 14 million gallons to be produced and used this year. Never mind that the industry to make the stuff is barely getting a start - only 25,000 gallons were produced in 2012. That's not even a third of one of percent of the 2012 goal.

Courts.....Congress....who needs them?  Isn't is wonderful that we have a president who can write laws himself and decide whether they are Constitutional....all by himself? Oh wait, what is the Constitution anyway?
