November 2014

28 Nov 14: Today's heroes: Matt Heisler and Tom Meeks. Matt was a young man who died in a house fire back in March. Back when Matt was 16 and getting his drivers license, he checked the organ donor box on his application. Tom Meeks is a Vietnam-era veteran with a rare heart disease and because of his age, several hospitals had refused to put him on a donor list; the Mayo Clinic, however, did put Meeks on its heart recipient list. Tom received Matt's heart last spring. Matt's family recently met with Tom and he let them listen to their son's/brother's heart through a stethoscope. What a wonderful thing for Tom to do, to let Matt's family realize that Matt's heart was beating on.

6 Nov 14: Sorry I haven't posted recently, but I've been so disgusted with what's going on in this once-great country that I don't even want to dwell on it. So....here's something different.

Kudos to Josh McCoy, a 14-year-old Eagle Scout from Alexandria, VA. In his 3 1/2 years as a Scout, Josh has earned 135 merit badges. And yes, that's all there are. Good work, Josh!

10 Nov 14: Poor Mary Landrieu, the incumbent senator from Louisiana facing a run-off election to retain her seat. After the results of the midterm elections turned control of the Senate over to the GOP and her re-election no longer is crucial to maintaining Democratic control, the Democrats have pulled $2 million dollars in spending they had earmarked to help Landrieu. Gee, here is a senator who sold her soul to help pass Obamacare, and yet this is how her party rewards her. Isn't politics wonderful?

-------

7 Nov 14: Well, there was certainly one welcome outcome of Tuesday's elections: since then we haven't heard a peep out of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. Word is that she needs to working on her resignation letter to the DNC.

-------

5 Nov 14: Now that was an interesting election yesterday, wasn't it? The voters let it be known that the majority of Americans do NOT believe in all the things the liberals claim they do. But unfortunately, this election won't change a thing in DC - still gridlock. Somehow the GOP needs to come up with a 2016 presidential candidate that can rally all Republicans and also pull in the independent voters. Who is that? Sad to say, I don't think I've seen that person yet.
