Musings of the WxToad
Trust me - The WxToad does NOT lean to the left!
31 Jan 17: I have to hand it to Gen John Kelly, the new Secretary of Homeland Defense. He appeared at a press conference this morning to discuss the refugee and immigration issue that has liberals all in a tizzy. The media asked him a number of times if he had been blind-sided by President Trump's executive order, to which he replied several times that it was no surprise at all, that President Trump has been talking about it for the past year and a half. An interesting sidelight to this press conference was that CNN and MSNBC, when they saw how well Gen Kelly was doing handling the press, they ended their live coverage. Gee, we certainly wouldn't want the American people to see that this guy really knows what he's talking about.
President Trump is set to announce his pick for the US Supreme Court this evening. Oh boy, I can't wait for Chuck Schumer and his merry band of liberals to start screaming. There's a real easy solution to blocking their obstructionist efforts: Sen McConnel should complete the process, begun by Democrats under Obama, of eliminating the philibuster for Supreme Court nominees. Bingo - problem solved.
And speaking of Obama - I thought we were rid of this guy. But no, up he pops to weigh in the refugee situation. He needs to take a lesson from President George W. Bush and go quietly into retirement. I think there are plenty of other leftists (Pocahontas Warren, for one) out there who will throw their liberal ravings in our faces.
28 Jan 17: Dan Rather appeared on the Chris Mathews show last Monday and went after Kellyanne Conway and her comment about "alternative facts." Hmmm, isn't this the pot calling the kettle black? Back in 2004 Rather used forged documents in making a claim that President George W. Bush had gone AWOL from the Air National Guard during the 1960's and 1970's. Seems like Mr. Rather himself is guilty of asserting "alernative facts." How come the left thinks it should be able to get away with things that it blasts the right for doing or saying?
An update on Kerry O'Grady, the Secret Service agent who publicly stated that she would not take a bullet for President Trump. She has been placed on paid leave while an investigations take place. I'm sorry, but this woman does not deserve a paid leave status. I resent paying someone who has clearly stated that she won't do her job. I'm not even sure why an investigation is necessary - she should be terminated immediately.
27 Jan 17: I read a report this morning that California residents are ramping up their efforts to secede from the United States. That's some of the best news I've heard in a long time - good lucdk and good riddance. Let those liberals stew in the mess they have created. And the big plus for the US would be getting Pelosi, Feinstein and Harris out of Congress.
25 Jan 17: Here's a name for you: Kerry O'Grady. Ms. O'Grady is the Special Agent in Charge of the Secret Service's Denver office. Her claim to fame is publicly stating that she would NOT take a bullet to save President Trump: "Despite the fact that I am expected to take a bullet for both sides ... [b]ut this world has changed and I have changed. And I would take jail time over a bullet or an endorsement for what I believe to be disaster to this country and the strong and amazing women and minorities who reside here. Hatch Act be damned. I am with Her." I certainly would hope that this leads to a speedy firing of Agent O'Grady for refusing to perform the duties for which she was hired. Oh, yes, don't you just love the capital "H" on the word "Her"? Undoubtedly a reference to Hillary.
24 Jan 17: Examples of the left's tolerance:
- Woman had her coat slashed as she was going into an inaugural ball.
- Another woman was pushed down and sat on when trying to get to the Military Ball.
- A woman on a plane verbally assaults a guy for being a Trump supporter and had to be removed from the plane.
- Protestors burned a limosine and broke store windows.
- Madonna drop the F-bomb and says she fantasizes about destroying the White House.
- Death threats have been made against Kelly Ann Conway, a senior Trump advisor.
And they claim that Trump supporters are dangerous??? Just imagine the outrage if conservatives had acted similarly 8 years ago.
22 Jan 17: Ah, the Womens March. Good for them. I'm glad they gathered to listen to the likes of Madonna talk about her thoughts of blowing up the White House and tossing the F-bomb out. The left says Trump and his supporters are dangerous - it seems to me that the left is a lot more dangerous with their attempts to stifle any opposing thoughts. They say President Trump is Hitler. Hmm, I'd say the left sounds a lot more like Hitler, Stalin, the Taliban and ISIS, all rolled into one. "Agree with us or else."
21 Jan 17: Although I disagree with Mr. Obama's decision to commute the sentence of Army Private Bradley Manning, there is an upside: the decision will spare American taxpayers the expense of of his/her sex-change operation. Under the terms of the commutation, Manning will receive a dishonorable discharge from the military, and thus lose her rights to military medical care. If he wants to become a she, I could care less....unless I'm compelled to pay for it!
20 Jan 17: Back in August of 2015, the US EPA caused devastating damage to Colorado's Animas and San Juan Rivers by inadvertantly releasing toxix wastewater from the shuttered Gold King Mine. Native Americans, farmers, river rafters and local governments filed 73 claims for damages totalling $1.2 billion. Despite EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy's repeated assurances that the EPA would assume full responsibility for the spill, yesterday the EPA denied the claims! It claims immunity under the Federal Tort Act. Isn't government wonderful - it causes a major environmental disaster and yet can escape culpability.
19 Jan 17: I couldn't stop the occasional tear of happiness as I watched the pre-inaugural festivities at the Lincoln Memorial this evening. Despite all the efforts of the left to destroy our democracy, we're seeing the transition of power smoothly taking place. Liberals...progressives...democrats...whatever you might call them - they have demonstrated their disdain for America and our Constitution, willing to go to any lengths to prevent Mr. Trump from becoming president. The American people had enough of their crap and said they wanted real change, a draining of the Washington swamp. Tonight the Washington Mall was filled with thousands of Americans gathered to celebrate Mr. Trump's inauguration. I can just imagine how angry liberals must have been to see such support for the man they so despise. But hey, they're proving that they are nothing but spoiled, bratty little children - 60 or more of them are going to boycott the inauguration tomorrow. Waaahh!
19 Jan 17: The media this morning is making sure we see and hear the reports from NOAA and NASA that 2016 was the warmest year in history. Maybe so, but they conveniently are NOT mentioning the report from the US Coast Guard's ice-breaker "Polar Star", which just made its annual arrival at Antarctica's McMurdo Station, breaking a path through the ice for re-supply ships. The "Polar Star" reports that instead of the usual 12-13 miles of ice, this year it to break its way through 60 miles of ten-feet thick ice.
18 Jan 17: Mr. Obama is really on a roll with his pardons and commutations of law-breakers. I don't have a major problem with his lessening the sentences of low-level drug offenders whose sentences were overly harsh. But...I do have a problem with his commuting the sentence of Army Private Bradley Manning (now Ms. Chelsea Manning, thanks to the generosity of US taxpayers) for espionage. Obama ignored the objections of his Secretary of Defense, Ashton Carter, in making his decision. Even more outrageous is the freeing of FALN leader Oscar Lopez Rivera, whose terrorist activities back in the 1970's in a struggle for Puerto Rico's independence, caused the deaths of 5 people and injured 100 others. So with 28 hours left in Obama's reign, I'm waiting to see who else emerges with a pardon or commutation. My money is definitely on Sgt Bo Bergdahl, the Army deserter that Obama praised and traded for some Al Queda operatives. And perhaps Ed Snowden, the NSA leaker and maybe even Hillary, just to be sure the GOP can't get her.
16 Jan 17: Isn't it interesting how the liberals hate our democracy!? We have Congressman John Lewis saying that Mr. Trump will not be a legitimate president, and many others are part of that same chorus. Even Hillary is in on it, despite her having said (back when she thought she was shoo-in) that disputing election results was a "direct threat to our democracy." Many of her campaign operatives, including Brian Fallon and Jennifer Palmieri are actively involved in organizing inauguration protests. Think of what the media outcry would have been like had conservatives acted like that when Obama was elected!
13 Jan 17; Wow! Let's hear it for Rosie O'Donnell. In a recent tweet she called for the imposition of martial law on the United States in order to prevent the inauguration of Donald Trump. Her name is also on a full-page ad that appeared in the Washington Compost two days ago. That ad was sponsored by www.refusefascism.org and included other fine Americans like Bill Ayers, Ed Asner, Margaret Cho, Debra Messing and many more. The group is calling for a month of resistance against Trump's inauguration. They claim his presidency is illegitimate because he did not win the popular vote. I guess these fine, highly educated liberals overlooked the US Constitution. The ad rants on and on about how Trump is a fascist and how dangerous he is...but nowhere does it spell out what they think he will do. This is typical liberal crap - they can't argue with reason, so they resort to name-calling and fear-mongering. And say, wasn't Rosie one of those Hollywood nobodies that said they would move to Canada if Trump won? Well, I'm been waiting to see the moving vans headed north. They should put their money where their mouths are and get out of here!
6 Jan 2017: Valerie Jarrett, Mr. Obama's handler, recently stated on CNN that he was leaving office without the kinds of scandals that have plagued previous administrations. Ms. Jarrett obviously doesn't have a very good memory, for here are some situations during the past 8 years that in my mind qualify as scandals:
Benghazi, Fast and Furious gunrunning, Solyndra and green energy subsidies for campaign donors, cash for Iranian hostages, IRS targeting of conservative groups, spying on journalists, Hillary Clinton's private email server, the Veterans Administration disaster, trading deserter Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban leaders held in Guantánamo, droning American citizens without due process, and firing inspector general Gerald Walpin for investigating an Obama crony who was abusing federal programs. I guess a trail of dead bodies, such as with the Fast and Furious weapons and Ambassador Stevens and three others in Benghazi doesn't qualify for scandal status.
Another example of faulty memory is Mr. Obama's Letter to Americans yesterday in which he stated: "over the past eight years, no foreign terrorist organization has successfully planned and executed an attack on our homeland." I guess he's forgotten about Fort Hood, San Bernadino, Orlando, Ohio State and others, all inspired and encouraged by ISIS.
I do hope that history's memory will be better than Mr. Obama's and Ms. Jarrett's.
5 Jan 2017: The Republicans now find themselves in the position of the dog who caught a bus - what to do with it? In their case, the bus is Obamacare, and I fear it is going to do the party in. For the past six years I've been waiting for the GOP to let us in on their replacement plan, and yet they have come up with nothing but vague generalities. I would think that someone during that time would have spearheaded the writing of a comprehensive health care reform package that would be ready to roll if/when the party regained its power. Well, they have the power now, but no apparent definitive plan. Quite a shame.
