A Trip Down East
2004
|
The coast of Maine is a beautiful area, and we've been visiting it for many years. These photos are from our trip in August of 2004 to the Camden-Thomaston area. While there we attended the Union Fair, a great little local fair in the old tradition...and with some absolutely delicious blueberry pie! For pictures and comments of all the campgrounds we visited, click on "Campground Reviews" in Top Menu or on the links in the journal. |
A great place for a lobster roll is Harraseeket Lobster House at the Freeport Town Dock. Sate the belly and the eyes at the same time.

We had a great time at the Union Fair. It's the kind of fair that's up close and personal. Horse-pulling, livestock displays, harness racing, homemade blueberry pie, and local talent, including this fellow playing a saw.

No trip to Maine would be complete without some lobsters. We bought these in Rockland and brought them back to our Camden Hills SP campsite to cook. Hmmm-good!
Our campsite at Lobster Buoy Campsites in South Thomaston. This is a great little old-fashioned CG run by the daughter and widow of the fellow who started it years ago. Every evening they sell fresh homemade slices of pie.

A little cottage next to the campground. Can't you imagine spending the summer there?
