7 Weeks in Florida - '01-'02 |
During our first winter post-retirement, we loaded up the truck camper and headed south for a spell. We had ordered our new Lazy Daze, but it would not be ready for pickup until May. The knowledge that this was our last trip in the truck camper was somewhat bitter-sweet: it had served us well for 8 years, but we were looking forward to the spaciousness and comfort of the LD. |
My big sister thinks our roof-top Santa is tacky, but what does she know? He gets lots of compliments. Here he is at Ft Clinch SP in FL.
An annual stop for us is at Camp Blanding FL, home of the Air National Guard Weather Readiness Training Center (I'm a retired ANG Weather Officer). During this trip Liz was treated to a ride in a HUMMV.
Pretty darn nice weather for sitting out on Christmas Day at Gamble Rogers SRA in Flagler Beach FL.
We met up with long-time friends Linda & Dwayne at Shell Mound County Park near Cedar Key. Nice little CG and only $5.00. But....it's airboat central. At all hours of the day and night, the locals were revving their unmuffled Chevy 350 engines on their airboats. Be sure you bring earplugs!
Bet you could buy this little vacation place in Cedar Key pretty cheap. But then again, waterfront ain't cheap, is it?
Sunset at Shell Mound Park.
Good ole St Jospeh Peninsula SP in the FL Panhandle. Site #37 is our favorite spot there.
Here's a view of the beach and CG at St Joe. You can see our rig down at the far end of the road.
