Nene Valley Railway
Adjacent to the Peterborough, England, station is a small steam railway operation. I was lucky to find one of their locomotives under steam when I visited in July of 1987. They're still in operation: visit the Nene Valley web site. It appears that the Nene Valley has prospered and grown immensely since my visit almost 30 years ago.
On my first trip into Peterborough, imagine my surprise to hear the sound of a steam whistle, followed shortly by this locomotive approaching. I did not know about this little operatio until I came across it by accident.
