  • Bluff Creek COE, AL

Bluff Creek COE is located at the northern end of Walter F. George Lake, about halfway between Eufaula and Phenix City, AL. The lake has narrowed to the original width of the Chattahoochee River in this area. Many of the sites are located along the shore of the lake and two creeks.

We arrived in late morning without a reservation and found plenty of sites to choose from. We chose site 45 in the River Forest Loop, and although not a waterfront site, it has a nice view of the lake and provides a nice mix of sun and shade.

    Date of visit: Mar 2009

Sites 18 and 17 in the Mill Run Loop border Mill Creek.
    Sites 14-11.
In the Uchee Trail Loop, here are sites 10 and 9.
A broad view of the River Forest Loop. There's a large open field in the center, a great place for a pickup softball game or other games. The smooth level camp roads make for great bike riding for the kids.
Site 24 is a private site beside Mill Creek.
    Sites 31-29.
We almost took site 37, a large, private site beside the lake. I would rank it one of the prime sites in the park.
Looking down the lake from site 37.
Sites 46 and 44. Site 46 is one of several pull-through sites.
Site 49 is another prime site in our opinion: large, private and waterfront.
Sites 58 - 52 in the Pine Bluff Loop.
    Sites 62 - 59.
The river-bank is a little nicer in front of sites 66-68, with grass sloping down to the water. You can even tie up your boat right at your site.
We thought sites 71 and 72 were very nice sites.
Sites 75 -82 in the Cherokee Loop.
    Sites 77, 80, 85 and 87.
Our fifth nominee for prime site is number 83.
There are three small but modern and clean bathhouses in the campground. Each offers free hot showers and has laundry facilities.
There's even an enclosed fish-cleaning station.
The boat ramp is located next to the campground on Bluff Creek.
