Rudds Creek Park is located on the John H. Kerr Reservoir, a 50,000-acre lake that extends 39 miles up the wooded, cove-studded shoreline of the Roanoke River in Virginia and North Carolina. Its 800 miles of wooded shoreline stretch across six counties and offer countless recreation opportunities for visitors. Hiking, fishing, boating, kayaking and canoeing are all popular pastimes on and around Kerr Reservoir. The campground contains three loops of site - two with electric and water hookups and one without hookups.

Our stay here was just a one-nighter as we were finally beginning to push a little harder to get back home in New England. Unfortunately I did not have time to get pictures of the first two campground loops. Shown below are a a few of the third loop sites, numbered 53 to 100.

As usual we arrived without a reservation and were able to get a site, although there were only a few available. Here we are on site 98.

    Date of visit: April 2015

There are several double sites with two sets of utility posts. These are great sites for large families or friends.

If you're looking for a pull-through site, there are several, including site 71 at water's edge.

Sites 77 and 75 are back-in sites with the lake right behind them.

In the foreground is double site 84, while further back on the right is site 83.

Although most sites are water-front, there are some "inland" sites such 92 and 93.

In the center of the campground is a boat ramp for launching and recovering your boat. While camping, though, you can tie your boat along the shore at your site. There is a second ramp located in the day-use area nearer the park entrance.

Each of the three campground loops has a modern bathhouse, each offering free hot showers and flush toilets.
