This is a popular park and reservations are definitely recommended during the winter months. We made ours about a month ago and could only get 4 nights. Here we are on site 32.

There is a modern bathhouse in the center of each of the two camping loops providing free hot showers.

It's just a short walk from the campground to the day-use area, where one will find picnic pavilions, a playground for the kids and this small swimming beach. Beware of the alligators!

There are about three miles of walking trails that cover much of the park's area. Some portions, such as here, are a bit wooded, while elsewhere the trails are out in the open. You can also ride a bike on them, but watch out for the occasional patches of deep, loose sand.

Along one of the trails we came across this skull. Deer?
