We arrived in late March and founds lots of empty spaces. Site 29 overlooks the lake There were about a half dozen sites with little tents set up on them, obviously folks came out early to claim their spot for next week's vacation.

    Date of visit: Mar 2012

Reservations are not taken here; in fact, it is an honor-pay campground. Last year we had been concerned that it being the week before Easter, there might be a problem finding a site. But no, there were plenty from which to choose. Here we are on site 20, with a view through the trees to the lake.

A short walk from the campground is the day-use area, which includes a large bowl-shaped swimming area when the lake is at full-pool.

A little further past the day-use area is Cherokee Dam. One can walk nearly half a mile along the dam to the spillway. After descending 121 steps, one can return to the campground via a paved path through the fields below the dam.
