Frances Slocum SP is located in northeastern Pennsylvania near the town of Wyoming, about 12 miles southwest of Scranton. There are three campground loops: one with electric hookups, one without hookups and a walk-to tenting area. Frances Slocum Lake provides fishing and boating opportunities, there are hiking and biking trails and the day-use area features a swimming pool and snack bar during the summer months.

Caution: Double-check the route offered by your GPS system - ours led us to a non-existent park road off Calverton Road. The park entrance is on the north side of the park on Mount Olivet Road.

    Date of visit: June 2017

We were traveling in early June before school was out, so we had no problem getting a site. We were assigned site 13 at the office and were told that if we didn't like it we could select another. We were quite comfortable there with enough shade on a rather warm afternoon so we could sit outside out of the sun.

Sites here are all pretty much alike with dirt parking pads and most sites are well-shaded. This is site 15, one of the larger sites.

Sites 1-54 are in the Stony Point loop and each has an electric utility box. Site 20 is on the left with site 19 further back on the right.

The day use area is across the lake from the campground on a peninsula. This is where the swimming pool is located.

This is the boat ramp for use by campers. The RV dump station and water fill are located in this area. We needed to fill our fresh water tank, but had to wait for another camper to dump his tanks before we could get to the water tap. We have encountered this at other locations as well; it seems that a better placement would allow campers to use them independently.
