East Broad Top RR
12 Jun 1966 was a beautiful day in south-central PA, a great afternoon to spend in Orbisonia and Rockhill , home territory of this fantastic 3'-gauge railroad. It was like stepping back in time as the Q and I roamed about the facilities. Visit the EBT's homepage for more details about the history of this railroad.
2-8-2 #14 had the honors this day.
What a beauty she is steaming through the rolling countryside.
#15 was resting in the yard.
Where else could you find a three-foot gauge, 3-way stub switch?
#14 pauses on her way to the roundhouse for the night.
The old roundhouse and shops were meticulously maintained. On 7 Jun 1998, a fire started in a smokejack and could have been disastrous if an employee and passerby had not noticed the fire and extinguished it with a garden hose before firefighters could arrive.
The turntable with shop facilities in the background.
Passenger equipment for the tourist runs rest in the late afternoon sun.
