Van Buren State Park, OH
Van Buren SP is located in northwestern Ohio about 7 miles north of Findlay. The park consists of a campground with two camping loops - one for families, the other for equestrians - a 45-acre lake and miles of trails.
Date of visit: June 2017

We were traveling through the area on Saturday of Father's Day weekend, but had no problem at all getting a site. There were only a few other campers so we had a good number of sites from which to choose. Since it was a rather warm day we selected site 63 for its shady area in which to sit.
There are two camping loops - one for campers with horses and the other for family camping. We stayed in the Family loop. Sites are fairly open, but there are some shade trees behind most of them. Here are sites 65 and 66.
The gravel parking pads appear to have had little attention and the grass and weeds are taking over. This is site 52, with sites 50 and 48 beyond.
Site 47, on the outside of the loop, is one of the larger sites, is set apart from other sites and has a large tree for some welcome shade on those hot days of summer.
Sites 45, 43, 41 on the left; sites 46, 44, 42 on the right.
At the entrance of the Equestrian loop are sites 9 and 11.
A group of folks with horses were on sites 15 and 16.
The horse sites have either high lines or small corrals.
Of course there is always some clean-up work to be done when with horses.
Sites 18 and 20 have corrals.
As does site 20.
Sites 25 and 27.
Sites 26, 28 and 30/32 - a double site.
Sites 35, 33 and 31.
Sites 5 and 3 are along the entrance road near the Hosts' campsite. I would imagine that they are among the last to be used.
There are two of these small cabins that can be rented.
There is a new modern vault toilet house. No sinks or showers.
Having a little trouble getting up on Old Paint? You can use this mounting stand.
In the center of the family loop is a play area for the young ones.
There is also a basketball hoop, a cornhole game and horseshoe pits - complete with horseshoes.
Park rangers can use the amphitheater for various presentations.
This map shows the extent of trails that traverse the park. The campground is in the upper right corner.
