Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base, NC

Onslow Beach Campsites is located right on the Atlantic Ocean, just a few miles from the main part of the base. The FAMCAMP is just across the road from the beach, and is bordered at the rear by the Intra-Coastal Waterway. There are 44 sites with full-hookups, including cable TV. You check in at the office right at the entrance to the CG. There is also a small exchange.

Looking down the CG road from the entrance. The CG office is in the building to the left. And just out of the picture to the left is the small Exchange. The beach is right behind me.

Along the main camp road, sites are rather close together, but are separated by large covered picnic shelters, which can be very welcome in the heat of summer.

Down at the end of the road is an open, grassy area with more sites; most do not have a picnic shelter, but they are building a few more each year.

Another view of the loop at the end of the road.

In November 2009 we stopped by Onslow Beach for a couple of nights and found ourselves on site 33 in the rear loop. They use this back loop more for short-stay transients, while longer stays are assigned sites along the road in.

The modern bath-house is kept very clean and also offers laundry facilities.

The ICW runs along the back of the FAMCAMP. The draw-bridge leads back to the main base.

Onslow Beach is a long, broad beach, great for walking and looking for sharks teeth.
