This was our third stop here. This time we picked site 67, where we got a little sun and found a hole through the trees for the satellite dish.
Date of visit: Nov 2008
Site 66, shown here during our Apr 2006 visit, is one of the more open sites, offering a fairly clear view for our satellite dish.
In November 2007 we stopped at Kings Mt a second time, on our way south via the GA mountains. With the fall foliage still on the trees, the campground looked a lot different. This time we were on site 108.
Most sites are fairly shaded, and apparently typical of Upcountry SC parks, are not too level.
All sites offer W/E (30A) hookups.
There are some pull-through sites, but they also are generally not very level.
This is the brand-new bathhouse in the south loop of the CG, heated and offering clean hot showers. There are three older bathhouses in the north loop.
There is a small laundry facility.
 Anyone for horseshoes?
Near the lake are several large pavilions and a large playground area.
This is the camp store, apparently open only when the park is busy (which isn't the first week in April).
A dam built by the CCC in the 1930's creates this small lake. Paddle boats and canoes are available for rent in the summer.
The dam is rather interesting, built of stone blocks which provide a gentle cascade of water.
This is the main lodge built by the CCC. It's located on the shore of the lake.
At least one of the pavilons would be a great place for a party on the cooler day - check out that fireplace!
The scenery near the dam and lake was much more colorful during our fall 2007 visit.
Another fall view of the lake.
The beavers have been busy gnawing on this large tree by the lake shore.
